Author of two books on Utah DUI law and defense

100% DUI Focused

DUI defense is the entire practice — not a side service

A Practice Built on DUI Defense

Glen Neeley does not dabble in DUI cases. DUI defense is the center of his practice and has been since he was admitted to the Utah State Bar in 1998. Every case is prepared for trial. Every investigation is challenged — from the initial traffic stop through chemical testing and booking.

This level of focus means Glen has seen the patterns that matter: how calibration lapses affect breath test results, how officer training gaps show up in field sobriety test administration, how procedural shortcuts create suppression opportunities. Every detail matters when your freedom, license, career, and reputation are at stake.

Glen's motivation for practicing criminal defense stems from watching family members struggle with addiction and be cast aside by the government. That experience drives a practice built on standing up for people the system would otherwise discard.

Scientific & Technical DUI Training

Glen's defense approach is built on understanding the same science and testing procedures that law enforcement uses to prosecute DUI cases.

Field Sobriety Testing

Certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) by an NHTSA instructor — the same training law enforcement officers receive. This allows Glen to identify administration errors and protocol deviations that undermine test reliability.

Breath Testing Science

Completed the Robert F. Borkenstein Course on Alcohol and Highway Safety (December 2003). Trained as both operator and technician on Intoxilyzer machines under DOT standards. Owns a personal Intoxilyzer 5000EN for defense research and preparation.

Advanced Scientific Evidence

Coursework through the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the National College for DUI Defense covering forensic toxicology, pharmacology, gas chromatography, and the science behind chemical test challenges.

Trial & Appellate Results

Glen prepares every case for trial from day one — because that preparation is what creates leverage at every earlier stage of the process. His work includes pre-trial motions to suppress evidence, witness cross-examination, expert testimony coordination, independent investigation, video analysis, and chemical test challenges.

In one notable case, the Utah Court of Appeals affirmed a dismissal after Glen successfully argued insufficient evidence for probable cause of impairment. The Utah Supreme Court declined the prosecution's request for further review — ending the case in the defendant's favor at the highest level.

Whether a case resolves through negotiation, motion practice, or trial, the outcome depends on how thoroughly the defense has investigated the evidence and identified the weaknesses in the state's case. That investigation starts the day you hire Glen.

Outside the Courtroom

Glen is a lifelong Utahn who spends time outside the office mountain biking, snowboarding, and exploring Utah's trails and mountains with his dog. He knows the state — the people, the communities, and the courts — because he has lived and worked here his entire career.
